COLLEGE STATION, Texas - It was a cold and windy day for afternoon baseball as fans settled into their seats to watch the final game of the series against Tennessee Tech. To wrap up opening weekend, the Aggies improved to 3-0 on the season after a 7-1 win on Sunday.

The first inning started with back-to-back strikeouts by Sophomore pitcher Aiden Simms to give Tennessee Tech little leeway to begin the game. The Aggies, on the other hand, were able to capitalize on an RBI single by Senior outfielder Wesely Jordan to start the game off 1-0. Unlike the offensive firepower displayed in the first two games of the series, this one was at a slower pace. The Aggies scored again in the third inning thanks to a wild pitch from Tennessee Techs Freshman pitcher Logan Moller.

Momentum for both sides picked up in the fourth inning with an RBI fly out by Senior catcher Manny Garza to bring home fellow teammate Senior outfielder Jorsixt Jimenez for Tennessee Tech's only run of the game. The Aggies, on the other hand, were able to cash in three runs to bring the score to 5-1.

Not much offense was generated by the Aggies in the fifth inning, despite getting two batters on base, so the score remained unchanged as they headed into the sixth. Jordan was able to secure his second RBI of the day by hitting a double to left center until he was able to make the journey home himself, thanks to an RBI single from Senior outfielder Jake Duer to make the score 7-1.

The game fizzled out from there with Junior pitcher Clayton Freshcorn closing out the last three innings, only allowing two hits in the eighth, and kept Tennessee Tech in check to finish off the series sweep.

After the game, Aggies head coach Micheal Earley, said of the team’s performance this weekend “I think we scored more runs Friday and then on Saturday, I was just more pleased with today than any of those days like they did what they had to do and just there’s no excuse man, no excuse, they did their jobs, everyone did their jobs and yeah they took care of business and that was good and we gotta continue to do it.”

Moving forward, the Aggies stay at home to face their next opponent, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, on Tuesday February 17th, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
