OUR STORY

KANM Sports was founded in October 2024 by Aiden Hunter ‘28 in collaboration with KANM Station Manager Nayab Warach ‘26. The idea was simple but ambitious—create a dedicated sports news division within A&M Student Radio that could deliver the most passionate, comprehensive coverage of Fightin’ Texas Aggie athletics on 106.7 FM KAGZ (KANM). What began as a student-driven vision has quickly grown into a program that strengthens with every show, steadily becoming the premier source for student-led sports journalism at Texas A&M.

WHO WE ARE:

We are a fully student-run sports media team committed to covering every corner of Aggie Athletics.

Each week, our diverse crew of broadcasters, reporters, photographers, editors, and bloggers brings fresh perspectives and genuine passion to the airwaves and on kanmsports.com. And every Friday night at 9 PM, we host ‘The Rev Replay’ a one-hour show recapping the most recent athletic events across Aggieland. While our shows follow a loose format, the heart of KANM Sports lies in authentic student voices, bold opinions, spirited debates, and a shared love for the teams that captivate the 12th Man.

MISSION STATEMENT:

At KANM Sports, our mission is to tell the stories behind the scoreboard, celebrating Aggie pride, passion, and perseverance through every broadcast. We are dedicated to excellence in student journalism; capturing the moments, energy, and traditions that define Texas A&M athletics. Most importantly, our mission is to develop the next generation of sports news reporters through hands on experience and professional coverage alongside some of the most respected journalists in the nation.

TEXAS A&M STUDENT RADIO - WHERE IT ALL BEGAN:

For more than fifty years, KANM (KAGZ-LP 106.7 FM) has served as the student heartbeat of Texas A&M University. Since opening its doors in 1973, the station has amplified the voices, creativity, and spirit that define Aggieland. Though technology, media, and student life have transformed dramatically over the decades, KANM has remained proudly student-run—always driven by the original student content.

What started as a small, experimental project in the early 1970s has grown into a vibrant, collaborative community of broadcasters, writers, producers, and creators. Through every generation, KANM has stayed true to its purpose: giving students a place to learn, lead, express themselves, and leave their mark on campus. The tools may look different today, but the spirit that built KANM still fuels it, an unwavering commitment to keeping student voices at the core of student radio.
