AGGIES FALL TO AZ STATE 4-3 IN GAME THREE OF COLLEGE STATION REGIONAL
Aggies will now face UConn in Game Five Elimination Matchup

After their stunning start to the NCAA College Station Regional, the Texas A&M Aggies played the Arizona State Sun Devils in game three of the series, resulting in a 4-3 loss for the Aggies. The Sun Devils' win against McNeese State in game two set the afternoon matchup at Davis Diamond.
Arizona State entered the regional as the reigning 2026 Big 12 Champions. Defeating the 2025 Big 12 Champions and the Runner-Up in the College World Series, Texas Tech. Texas A&M entered the series after a win in game one over the UConn Huskies, 17-3. Texas A&M has had a struggling conclusion to its regular season and the beginning of the postseason, after series losses to Oklahoma and a lackluster showing against Auburn, falling 11-8 to the Tigers in the SEC Tournament.
The top of the first was a brief flash as Arizona State. Aggies prevented the Sun Devils from advancing any runners past home with back-to-back flyouts to center field by #44, Tanya Windle, and #42, Kaylee Pond. The top of the inning would conclude on their third batter when #32, Swan, popped up to first base. The bottom of the first proved successful for the Aggies at the last moment when, with two outs and only a single runner on base, #14 Micaela Wark homered to right field and scored two runs. The inning would conclude with Kowalewski popping up to third base.
In the second inning, a catching error in right field would allow #17 Emily Schepp to single to right field. The next batter, #12, Katie Chester, would homer to center field and tie the ballgame for the Sun Devils. In the bottom, the Aggies were unable to break the tie with #99 Matthis, #16 Dement, and #11 Allen striking out swinging.
In the next two innings, the score remained unchanged, even with a near opportunity by the Sun Devils in the top of the fourth. With runners on first and second, #49, Brooklyn Ulrich, would foul Arizona State's opportunity to break the tie out to third base. In the bottom, the Aggies would finally take the lead 3-2 when #9, Hailey Golden, scored after a fielder's choice.
The Aggies carried their momentum into the top of the fifth when #32 for the Sun Devils, Samantha Swan, grounded into a double play. Unfortunately, the Aggies would also fall to the same result when #44, Tallen Edwards, hit into a double play in the bottom of the inning.
In a last-minute effort, the Sun Devils tied the game 3-3 in the top of the seventh with a single from #42, Kaylee Pond. The game would only continue to escalate when the bases were loaded by #32, Samantha Swan, getting hit by the pitch. The Sun Devils would then take the lead 4-3 when #17, Emily Schepp, singled, allowing #44, Tanya Windle, to score. During the bottom of the seventh, the Aggies were unable to prevail, concluding with a strikeout by #1, Kennedy Powell, and solidifying the final score 4-3.
Texas A&M will now take on the UConn Huskies for a second time this series, determining if the Aggies will move forward in the NCAA Softball Championship.
